A Php210 Worth of a Healthy You Diet

What's your version of a healthy diet? Atkins, south beach, fad diet? Maybe fasting?
That sounds morbid.

Most of the time these healthy diet programs are not readily available in most Philippine locals. Food finds on printed materials, however, suggest options that are surely healthy. Certain choices like Vietnamese Rice Rolls served in  large platters with equal amounts of meat and vegetable products  can work for big meals like lunch and dinner. One set of order for Vietnamese Rice Rolls costs around Php1000 or more. That would at least take you Php7000 a week. It is one smart option but it can be, at the same time, an oversimplification of a diet regimen. We would mostly end up going home with our wallet broke.

Anyone given the carte blanche would choose the best healthy diet program for them. But without necessarily having have to come home dirt poor from over spending with diet programs.

Readings and inquiries have given me similarly good  and less costly choices.

1. Quaker Fruits & Nuts Oatmeal

Oats are significant source of fiber. Fibers essentially act as sponge so that when they are taken in adequate amount they form bulks that absorb other by-products of the food we eat. In that case, these by-products don't end up adding extra weight to our body. And fibers also trap substances related to cholesterol.

Quaker fruits & nuts oatmeal is a whole grain that is likewise loaded with real apples, raisins, and pecans. You actually eat real pieces of this group of food mentioned in every spoon of Quaker fruits & nuts oatmeal. It's a good alternative to another healthy but slightly more expensive healthy whole grain product, Muesli Cereals.

Each serving of Quaker fruits & nuts oatmeal that is equivalent to 1/2 cup or 4 scoops of oatmeal contains 1.6 grams of fiber or 3.2 grams per 1 cup out of the average of 25 grams of fiber that we need daily.

Apple is a rich source of vitamin A, C, and B6 while raisin is a good source of potassium. Pecan nuts are rich in oleic acid that is an excellent source of antioxidants.

It is available for Php67.00 in groceries and is good for 6-7 days.

2. Tipco Mixed Veggie & Fruit Juice

It's wise to be vegan. But most vegetables are odd in taste. And fruits are sometimes honestly expensive. Although I don't entirely recommend ready-to-consume juices over real vegetable and fruits, Tipco mixed veggie & fruit juice is one health-seeker friendly alternative.

It's a concoction of carrots, orange, tomato, celery, passion fruit, and pineapple made into a consumable, non-bitter tasting juice. It's organic so you are sure it doesn't just come from anywhere.

I take 1 glass or 240ml of it per day that is good for almost 5 days. Every 1 liter of Tipco juice is available for  Php115.00 in select food stores.

3. Magic Flakes Multigrain Whole Wheat Crackers

Each pack has 4 pieces of whole wheat crackers that translates to 3 grams of fiber. It can be bought for around Php28.00 for 12 pieces in groceries that is  better than synthetic chocolates & chips.

Here's a clincher thought, counting calories and talking about nutrition facts is overwhelming. At one point they take so much time. What is actually essential is to go for health friendly food choices (at reasonable prices) and take variety of them in moderation.

Things don't need to taste bland to consider them healthy. There is a plethora of healthy food choices we can all take joy in eating.

Good-Mood Tips for Busy Bodies

With today’s cosmopolitan busyness and technological indulgence, it’s hard to keep up with the time and still be able to maintain positivism. There is no boundary between work and home. I learned a lot of that when I started working up to 12 hours a day in the hospital for the past two months.

Stresses come in greater amount and out and back again. There is almost never enough time to breathe from the pressure weight and hassle. And I think you have been busy and enfeebled, too with your life because if not, you won’t be here in this post.

When everything around you begins to cut down your space into nothing but work. And if given a choice between courage and desolate, you choose the latter, you surely have gotten your wellness in complete disproportion.

For a while, you need to pull yourself up a bit and set back a good mood. You cannot just continue life in desolation because we all know it’s unhealthy.

How do you raid off unhappiness then and take little steps back to wellness?

Idly Busy

Image taken from weheartit.com
Doing nothing can sometimes be very tiring”. Don’t you think this is one of the most familiar oxymoron you could ever hear?

Oftentimes we grumble about our jobs draining us and errands preoccupying most of our supposedly free time. Sometimes when paper works pile up and our to-do list sit out unaccomplished, we opt to one day finding a time to loosen up and really do nothing to compensate for the “cruel kindness” this busyness has caused us. And when we think we’ve had too much of work we could not do otherwise because it’s what makes our living or else we won’t get our lives moving forward. I’m not so sure if you can relate with me on this.

When our motivation for things go AWOL and our equal right to find some rest gets more bereaved, to for moment be idle becomes a credible way of escape. However, idleness often betrays us more than we think. It makes haste slowly of our longing to get a temporary break and be back right up again.

“The busy man is troubled with but one devil; the idle man by a thousand”.
Doing nothing instead widely opens the door to the attacks of the tempter. Idleness invites an ample time for us to rather think of many varied things that either dirt our minds or make it become more negative.

When we become busier being idle, it retards out desire for life and ambition. To physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually be productive is an aim a little impossible; paralyzing our way to success (i.e. to successfully attain what we’re supposed to achieve and make good at it).

“The way to be nothing is to do nothing”.

It said, let the devil always find you doing something and he’ll soon be convinced that it is of no use. But don’t let him find you idly busy, as what Socrates said, “Not only is he idle who is doing nothing, but he that might be better employed”.

The disadvantages of idleness affect no one in exemption. That’s why you have to give yourself the right cure once you reach a point of exhaustion and the lack of motivation.

Here’s a weird bit but sensible advice from Elizabeth Gilbert in one of her articles:

If you've lost your life's true passion (or if you're struggling desperately to find passion in the first place), don't sweat it. Back off for a while. But don't go idle, either. Just try something different, something you don't care about so much. Why not try following mere curiosity, with its humble, roundabout magic? At the very least, it will keep you pleasantly distracted while life sorts itself out. At the very most, your curiosity may surprise you. Before you even realize what's happening, it may have led you safely all the way home.

Forever Young

There's nothing more good than being young in mind and heart
Image taken from daytobeyou.com
I wanna be forever young! — If only life put up with this.

First, I’m turning 21 this year and am not getting any younger.

Physically, I may still be able to get along with activities that require so much strength but I pretty  sure that my endurance wouldn’t be as sound as a 4th grader could get.

Emotionally, I cannot just let my tantrums and emotional constipation fly in the air because I’m no more 3 years old and the society expects me to act and deal with things the more mature way; which also means to say that I could no longer just decide on things impulsively and do whatever I want without keeping other people in mind.

Mentally, I know I have to stretch my brain and understand things the higher level. That 10,000 minus 8,985 is not equals 1015 but finding a job (with pay) and searching for a sideline to get the money coming in for the family’s daily consumption and for a post-graduate study’s tuition.

And spiritually, I need to realize that going to church every Sunday and memorizing some bible passages cannot help grow my sacred side but act on them.

Second, being young holds for so many opportunities to explore without hesitations of what the people around can say. A young mind and heart is yet spared of the world’s too much vanity. Innocence is professed.

Lastly, I just miss the times when all I think about is what movie to watch the next day and get mad at the mom for not buying me the pink-dressed doll she promised since two weeks ago.
